In the sunny hours of yesterday, the Transition Chairman of Anaocha LGA, Hon Patrick Estate Onyedum successfully hosted the 2nd Edition of the Under-18 Anaocha Athletics Championship. The epoch event featured 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m relay race, shot put, jumping, pole vault, javelin, etc.
In his opening remark, Hon Onyedum reiterated that the aims and objectives of the championship was to fulfill the promise made to Ndi Anambra, to bring the best talents among secondary school students in Anaocha LGA and nurture their spirit of sportsmanship.
Sixteen secondary schools in Anaocha participated in the championship. “I made sure that all the winners were fully sponsored personally to state level. It is a privilege to serve Ndi Anaocha and pray that the spirit of sportsmanship continue in the future.”
Dignitaries in attendance are; Sen. Dr. Victor Umeh (Ohamadike Ndigbo), Rt. Hon. Dozie Nwankwo (Member Representing Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal House of Representatives), Hon Ejike Okechukwu (Ogbuefinukoefi, Member Representing Anaocha II in the State Assembly), Hon Pete Ibida (Chief Whip & Member Representing Njikoka II in the State Assembly), Hon Tony Oli (Ome Na Okochi, Chairman Anambra State Sports Commission), Chief Cyril Okoye (Ezeani Adazie Na Adazi), Chief Inno Posh Chikezie (Isi Ochendo Anaocha, Chairman of the occasion), Hon Ebele Ejiofor (Member Representing Anaocha 1, State House of Assembly) amongst others.
