An eminent and illustrious son of the State, Sir. Dr. Emeka Offor through his foundation has donated the following relief materials to Anambra State Government for flood victims;
600 Bags of 50Kg rice, 60 Bags of 50Kg Beans, 60 Bags of 50Kg Garri, 500 pieces of 3feet, 6inches mattresses, 500 cartons of Ndomie Noodles, 600 Tubers of Yam, 50 cartons of Tomatoes, 30 cartons of Bathing Soap, 30 cartons of washing soap, 30 Jerrycans of palmoil, 30 cartons of Milo Beverage, 30 cartons of milk, 50 Jerrycans of Vegetable oil, 10 Bags of salt, 10 cartons of Maggi and N2.5 Million
The Governor who appreciated Sir. Dr. Emeka Offor in a special way for his kind gesture, revealed that Anambra was the second state largely affected by flood after Jigawa which have led to loss of lives and swept roads, bridges, farmlands and properties.
The Chief of Staff to Sir Dr Emeka Offor Foundation, AIG Chris who described Sir Emeka Offor as the Rotary International Ambassador of Nigeria, said the vision of the Foundation is to alleviate poverty and make significant contributions in matter of charity.
Explaining the history of the Foundation which was founded in 1996 and formally incorporated in 2006, he also stated the Foundation is an NGO that do not solicit for funds.
7 local governments in the state were affected and 41,000 internally displaced persons scattered all over 30 Camps but, the Governor pointed out the total numbers of victims are up to hundreds of thousands.
He said it’s only 41,000 victims that agreed to live in IDP Camps while the rest seeked for shelter in neighboring communities, friends and relations.
Awgbu Community in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra State also donated a cheque of N1 Million to assist the State Government in catering for the flood victims.
