Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi joined Onitsha Archdiocese Catholic Men Organization in a Mass of Thanksgiving on the celebration of their 40th year Anniversary.
Presentation of Archbishop Award and Launching of N500 Million Ultra Modern Library Building project in the Archdiocesan Shanahan University situated in Onitsha was also observed.
The thanksgiving Mass held at Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha.
“On behalf of the Governor, we celebrate with you. He recognizes the importance of fathers in the society. CMO is a very significant organization and the Governor extends his gratitude to all the support the Archdiocese is offering to his Government.
“The Governor also said I should inform you that he has declared a state of emergency on roads in this state. This was the request of the majority of ndi Anambra during his campaign tour,” the Chief of Staff said.
“After our Inauguration into office on 17th of March this year, the Governor has already awarded 243KM of roads.
“5000 teachers were also recruited a few weeks ago, a feat that has never been achieved before in the state.
“Most of our General Hospitals never had Doctors and Nurses but today we have 300 doctors, nurses and paramedics.
“The importance of the library in the new Shahanan University cannot be overemphasized. I plead with everyone to donate generously to ensure the money needed to complete the building library is raised.
“In conclusion, I extol our APGA Candidate for Anambra North Senatorial Zone, Chief. Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano. I urge our people to support her ambition so that APGA Government can continue to do a great job for Ndi Anambra,” he said.
His Grace, The ArchBishop of Onitsha Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Maduka Okeke in his exhortation stated that number 40 is a sign of divine favor.
“40 years ago, CMO survived years of turbulence and challenges.
“Our responsibility as men is everything in the family. Men are the Head of the home that should lead and direct the affairs of their household.
“Men should endeavour to teach their children prayers of the Rosary, lay a spiritual foundation and teach them the tradition of the Catholic church.
“CMO is still young as a group! If you are a married man and a Catholic, ensure to register for CMO because you are automatically qualified. It is a way of serving God with your labour,” he concluded.
The President of CMO, Hon. Sir Evarist Ubah in his welcome address maintained the organization is enjoying a triple celebration.
“CMO started in Onitsha Archdiocese and from there spread to other Diocese in Nigeria.
“The establishment of Shahanan University in Onitsha will change the narrative of the city of just being a city of trade and commerce to a cosmopolitan city.
While appreciating dignitaries who took out time from their busy schedule on a Friday to grace the event, he pleaded with them to assist in raising funds to complete the establishment of the Ultra Modern Library that is ongoing.
The Former First Lady of Anambra State and APGA Senatorial Candidate Anambra North, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme), Labour Party Senatorial Candidate Anambra Central, Sir Victor Umeh, Chaplain, Archdiocese of Onitsha, Rev. Father Sampson Ogbuebuna amongst others attended the event.
