Morocco defied all odds by defeating Portugal 1-0 to advance into the Semi-finals.
Morocco who took the lead early in the first half was compact and disciplined defensively.
They surrendered possession to Portugal while they attacked the European nation at the counter.
Cristiano Ronaldo who wasn’t in the starting line up was brought in around the second half but he was helpless as he couldn’t do much to help his team equalize.
This was very devastating considering the fact that Lionel Messi, his direct rival qualified with Argentina yesterday.
Cristiano Ronaldo had high hopes and was optimistic to lead Portugal into the finals but the Manager benched him in their last game where they scored six goals and also, benched him in the game against Morocco.
This would be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last World Cup game as he is 38 already.
Morocco has indeed made the African continent proud and we say a huge congratulations to them as we celebrate with them.
